About Me
I have been practising holistic massage since qualifying in 1998 and remain committed to providing the best therapeutic care possible to my clients, whatever their needs. I began my journey in therapeutic healing with a keen interest in the power of touch on the human body and my enthusiasm for the pursuit of ways to rehabilitate, correct, rebalance, relax and care for the body as a whole continues to be my focus and enjoyment. I regularly update my skills through research, practise and attending advanced courses with organisations such as The London Massage Company, as well as having regular treatments myself to keep ‘in touch’ with how holistic and sports massage feels and affects my own body. We are constantly finding new and exciting aspects to how our bodies work and respond to our environments, in addition to fascinating, break-through modalities to utilise during therapy and I love to explore new ways of optimising the health of our body systems using this information.
The word holistic comes from the Greek word ‘holos’ which means whole. In holistic massage we treat the mind, body and spirit, and not just those problems which we can physically see, this ensures that not only our symptoms are treated but also the causes of symptoms. Holistic treatments include aromatherapy, reflexology, Indian head massage and energy healing. These treatments focus on relaxation, rebalance and harmonising all systems of the body; it’s a ‘time out’ for our bodies and minds whilst the methods of treatment are working hard on a cellular level. I consider the exchange and manipulation of energy, that of my client and my own, in all the therapies I offer, including sports therapy, as I have a knowledge and understanding of the body’s Chakra system and strongly believe that the energetic health of our bodies is integral to our health as a whole.
